Imaging USA 2014 – Phoenix, Arizona.

Nothing, I repeat, NOTHING, is better than getting away from the slush, snow, and way below zero weather for even the shortest amount of time.

A few years ago, Emily attended the Professional Photographer’s of America (PPA) convention called Imaging USA, which just happened to be in Phoenix. 5 years or so later, Phoenix was the locale again, and this time, Emily asked me to join her. Knowing the convention was taking place in Arizona, in mid-January, the choice to go was a no-brainer! :)

We got into Phoenix at about 9 pm, headed to our gorgeous downtown hotel, and snuggled in for the night. Sunday began the convention, and we spent the next three days attending some AWESOME sessions, where we learned lots, got inspired, and couldn’t wait to put these new ideas into practice. We also made sure to get outside, sight-see around downtown, and soak in as much of the 70 degree weather and gorgeous sunshine as possible!

On Tuesday, we rented a car and  headed East, outside of the city to take in some of the beautiful true Arizona scenery! About 40 minutes later, we found ourselves in Tonto National Forest. Following the Apache Trail, the winding narrow two-lane road took us through some spectacular sights. All throughout the afternoon, Emily and I kept saying to each other, “I just can’t get over how gorgeous it is!” The landscape to me seemed so desolate and menacing, compared to anything else I’ve seen, but that didn’t in any way take away from its beauty. We also made sure to get in a quick model session, and despite a prickly cactus-in-the-calf situation,  I was able to get Emily on the other side of the camera. She looks gorgeous, (no thanks to her photographer), and I personally think she should venture to get out from behind the camera a little more often! :)

So here’s a few of our favorites from this unforgettable trip, and if you’d like to see more, you should follow us on instagram @ emilyjanephoto!

We safely arrived back in the snow and cold on Wednesday night. We tried to bring back to sunshine with us, but so far that didn’t seem to work – sorry all!

Anywho, it was an all-around awesome trip, and I can’t wait to venture back to sunny Arizona sometime to see more of this gorgeous state! Thanks for stopping by – ellie :)
